Omaha Poker Rules

Basic Omaha poker can be played with up to ten players. It is a community card game with each person receiving 4 hole cards face down, and then try to improve on any 3 of the 5 community cards in the middle. Each player must use exactly two cards from the hole and exactly 3 community cards. There are two forms of Omaha poker rules; Omaha High and Omaha High Low. There are also three types of betting structures for each set of rules; Limit Omaha, No Limit Omaha, and Pot Limit Omaha.

What makes omaha different then other poker games is that you MUST USE EXACTLY TWO of your four hole cards and EXACTLY THREE cards from the flop. If you have never played this game before but have played holdem you need to say that ten times before you continue. You will make a mistake. For example if the flop is 3,3,3,3,A and you have A, 2, 2, 4 you DONT have four of a kind you have a full house. But you DONT have 333AA, you have 33322. You can’t have threes full of aces because to use two of your cards and the ace you would need to drop two of the threes, leaving you with two pair A, A, 3, 3, 4.
